Listen to a varied program of music by the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Chamber Singers and the Vidal M. Treviño (VMT) Magnet High School Choir at their combined choral program Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the TAMIU Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall.

Admission is free and open to the public.

“These talented singers are excited to perform in this amazing venue and look forward to future collaborations with the TAMIU Chamber Singers,” said Celia Hernández, VMT Magnet High School Choir director.

Dana Crabtree, director, TAMIU Chamber Singers, and instructor of music and voice, agreed.

“The TAMIU Chamber Singers strive to program the best in choral literature for their concerts, and so much of that literature is found in the Texas All-State Choir repertoire.  It is only fitting, then, that we have some of the best high school choral singers in Laredo to join us in performing it,” said Crabtree.

The varied program will include a cappella classics from C.V. Stanford and Giuseppe Verdi as well as contemporary works by Imant Raminsch, Morten Lauridsen, Z. Randall Stroope, Dan Forrest, and Greg Jasperse.

The choirs will be joined by Dr. Colin Campbell, pianist, and other TAMIU students on instrumental solos.

The VMT Concert Choir is comprised of students from all three LISD high schools. On Saturday, Nov. 8, 10 of these musicians will compete for a spot in the TMEA Region Choir, as well as for the chance to advance to competition for the Texas All-State Choir.
