Students at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) will be able to participate in the first ever Consent Week, Monday, Feb. 9 – Friday, Feb. 13. The week of events kick off with the premiere of “Student Consent Video,” a video made by students for students, and concludes with the return of Eve Ensler's award-winning play, “The Vagina Monologues.”

Admission to “The Vagina Monologues” is $10. All proceeds benefit SCAN, Inc.’s SASI program and Casa Misericordia.

“The office of the associate vice president of Student Affairs will be hosting the first Consent Week as part of our efforts to continue raising awareness and educating the TAMIU community about Title IX, on and off-campus resources, and the importance of reporting incidents of sexual assault and sexual violence,” said San Juanita Perez, associate director, Student Success Services, and Title IX investigator.

Title IX, a segment of the Education Amendments of 1972, prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender from any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.
