Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) has named Rosanne Palacios as its Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

Palacios is a seasoned development professional with over 25 years of experience in fundraising and marketing ranging from the private, non-profit and public sector and spanning a broad range of diverse communities and philanthropic initiatives.  Her appointment is pending approval by The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents.

TAMIU president Ray Keck said Palacios would lead all the University’s fundraising efforts, crucial to its continued success.

“While the University has benefited mightily from the historic leadership and funding vision of our State Legislature, their vision for higher education has been expanded and strengthened through the broad-based philanthropy of countless donors and partners here in Laredo and beyond.  This support has been crucial to our endowment, student scholarship, faculty support and research and construction and campus improvements.

“Rosanne’s formidable linkages to our community, history of service and impressive spectrum of fundraising experience will be a tremendous asset to TAMIU as we approach our 45th year of service and success.  We are blessed to have her leadership at The International U,” Dr. Keck said.

At TAMIU, Palacios will lead all advancement functions including fundraising, annual campaigns, alumni relations and targeted drives and will oversee the University’s special events and career services offices.

She has most recently been director of development for Mercy Ministries of Laredo  (MML) and charged with raising funds for operations and special programs consistent with MML’s mission.  Prior to joining MML, she was first vice president of marketing for the more than 260 branches of International Bank of Commerce in over 100 communities from 1999 to 2008.

Other key positions have included finance director for the Texas Democratic Party and community affairs and special projects liaison for the WEDGE group and Frontera Resources in Houston. She began her development career with Laredo’s St. Augustine School, initiating its first highly successful capital campaign for construction, program and endowment.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree specializing in public relations from The University of Texas at Austin and has been part of numerous social and civic organizations, including the Society of Martha Washington, Washington’s Birthday Celebration Association,  Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra, Webb County Heritage Foundation, Leadership Texas and Texas Lyceum, among others.
