AVA Digital Awards has named Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) among its top winners in its 2015 international awards competition.

AVA Digital Awards recognize outstanding achievement by creative professionals involved in the concept, direction, design and production of media that is part of the evolution of digital communication.

TAMIU’s Office of Public Relations, Marketing and Information Services (PRMIS), was named 2015 Platinum Winner in the Commercials/Ad Campaign category for its “The International U” TV video campaign produced with  MDR (Morehead Dotts Rybak).

PRMIS was named 2015 Gold Winner in the Creativity (Web Design)/Website category for the University’s website, tamiu.edu.

The Office also received an Honorable Mention in the Social Media Site/Facebook category for its TAMIU Facebook site.

The international competition attracted over 2,100 entries from around the world.  Entrants included digital professionals, web developers, communication departments and independent creative professionals.

PRMIS director Steve Harmon said his creative team is honored by the selections.

“Our creative team is honored to have had our entries in this international competition selected for these singular honors.  While our passion for sharing the University’s story is offered daily, it’s truly inspiring to see that passion judged by peers as outstanding.  Key to this success has been our collaboration with MDR and the energy and drive of our entire PRMIS team:  Mika Akikuni, associate director of marketing; Melissa Barrientos-Whitfield, social media and communications manager; Ana Clamont, brand and design manager; Rory King, director of web; Rolando Santos, videographer-photographer and Laura Bogue, staff assistant,” he said.

The annual AVA Digital Awards is sponsored and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP).  Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as an industry benchmark.

Winners were selected from 200 categories in audio, video and web-based production.  About 14% of entries won the Platinum Award, AMCP’s top honor.   About 16% were Gold winners and 7% won Honorable Mention.

Last year, PRMIS received six Educational Advertising Awards, sponsored by Higher Education Marketing Report, and a Texas Gold Addy Award.
