TAMIU ‘Consent Week’ Ends with ‘Monologues’ Performance Friday

"Consent Week, " a first-ever  week-long observance at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), ends Friday with the performance of Eve Ensler's award-winning play, "The Vagina Monologues," from 7-8:30 p.m. in Student Center (SC) 236.  The play is intended for audiences 18 years old or older.

The week to date has included the premiere of a “Student Consent Video,” made by students for students, a letter writing campaign where students write short letters to their future selves defining consent, an information fair, "Safe Zone" Training, a presentation on healthy relationships and "Green Dot"  Training.

Admission to Friday's “The Vagina Monologues” is $10. Proceeds benefit SCAN, Inc.’s SASI program and Casa Misericordia.

Consent Week is hosted by TAMIU's Office of the associate vice president of Student Affairs as part of the University's continuing efforts to raise awareness and educate the TAMIU community about Title IX, on and off-campus resources, and the importance of reporting incidents of sexual assault and sexual violence.

Title IX, a segment of the Education Amendments of 1972, prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender from any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.
