Texas A&M International University students will welcome David Edward Garcia, nominated as North America's #1 Top Youth Motivational Comedian on Monday, April 20 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. in the Student Center Theatre, (SC-236).

The event is hosted by University College, in collaboration with Student Success, Athletic Department, Student Affairs and Study Abroad and includes a variety of activities to connect with students as part of Motivational Monday at TAMIU.

Garcia, voted North America’s top youth motivational comedian two years in a row, has spoken at schools and college campuses around the world. He was once considered an “at-risk student,” but he defied the odds and graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

His message will teach students how to stay positive when facing challenges, be free from negative influences, avoid destructive behavior cycles, understand their true potential, learn why education is the key to their dreams and how to get and stay motivated for life.

Several student support offices and programs will host information tables to help students stay on track in their graduation roadmap. Students will have an opportunity to learn time management and study tips and receive free pizza and soft drinks, popcorn and “Finish Strong” T-shirts.

Admission is free and open to TAMIU students and sponsored by TAMIU Title V Sophomore Success.

For more information, contact Sylvia O. Praesel, director, Title V, at 326.2808 email sylvia.praesel@tamiu.edu or or visit offices in Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center, room 223.
