TAMIU Hosts 19th Annual Trade Conference April 15-17

Experts in business will share their knowledge at the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business Center for the Study of Western Hemispheric Trade 19th Annual Western Hemispheric Trade Conference Wednesday, April 15 – Friday, April 17.

The Conference kicks off with the International Bank of Commerce Keynote Speaker Series Wednesday, April 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Student Center (SC) Ballroom. Dr. Diana Villiers Negroponte, Public Policy Scholar, Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C., will present “Opportunities and Challenges for México Today.”

Dr. Villiers Negroponte will examine the high expectations for modernization of the Mexican economy under President Enrique Peña Nieto and the 11 structural reforms that he succeeded in passing through Congress.

Conference participants will have the opportunity to hear from business experts, including Dr. Stephen Haber, Peter and Helen Bing Senior Fellow, Hoover Institution, Stanford University, and Dr. James R. Barth, Lowder Eminent Scholar in Finance, Auburn University.

Dr. Haber will present “The Causes and Consequences of Foreign Bank Entry in México” Thursday, April 16 at noon in the SC Ballroom.

Dr. Barth will present “U.S. Financial Crises: Regulatory Failures and Inappropriate Reforms” Friday, April 17 at 12:30 p.m. in the SC Ballroom.

Tickets to the luncheon keynote presentations are $20 per day, but admission to the IBC Keynote Speaker Series lecture scheduled for Wednesday, April 15 is free.
