Phi Kappa Phi Awards Grant to TAMIU Prof

A member of the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi received the Love of Learning Award worth $500. Dr. James Norris, TAMIU associate professor of political science, was one of 160 winners chosen from over 400 applicants.

“The committee was impressed with your superior academic record and life/career ambitions. We encourage you to keep up the hard work with hopes that the Society can continue to assist you in your journey,” wrote Kelli C. Partin, programs coordinator, Phi Kappa Phi, in an email to Dr. Norris notifying him of the Award.

The grant helps fund career development for Phi Kappa Phi members to further career development.

Norris will also be featured in a Phi Kappa Phi publication which highlights the winners of awards given by the Society in the past year.

Norris currently serves as president of the TAMIU chapter.

Founded in 1897 at the University of Maine, Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. The Society has chapters on more than 300 select colleges and universities in North America and the Philippines.
