Inspire students to volunteer their time and talents for your cause at the upcoming Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) 2015 Welcome Week iServe Fair Wednesday, Aug. 26 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the TAMIU rotunda.

Registration is free.

The TAMIU Office of Student Conduct and Community Engagement (SCCE), which helps coordinate service projects to assist the region, national and international communities, is taking applications for Signature Partners.

There are several benefits to becoming a Signature Partner:

    •  Promotion of volunteer opportunities on the TAMIU community engagement web page.
    •  Access to information tables on campus.
    •  Preferred agency database listing.
    •  Maintain a relationship with TAMIU students and student organizations.
    •  Participation in TAMIU Service Committee.
    •  Receive first preference to host “Make a Difference Day” or “Big Event” initiatives.

“Make a Difference Day” is the largest nationwide community service day and falls on the last Saturday of October. More than 300 students participated during “The Big Event 2015.”

“The Big Event” is a service day tradition that started at Texas A&M University in 1982. It is now celebrated nationwide by universities every spring.

During the Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters, TAMIU students helped more than 130 agencies, participating in more than 330 events. Over 1,500 students volunteered 90,200+ community service hours, creating a $1.9 million monetary impact to local, state and national communities.

To register as a Signature Partner, organizations must sign a memorandum of agreement, attend an annual training offered by the Office of Student Conduct and Community Engagement, offer at least one volunteer opportunity per semester for TAMIU students, and ensure that volunteer opportunities are in compliance with TAMIU risk management policies.
