TAMIU-SBDC starts 4-Month Management Certification Program Oct. 7

 

The Texas A&M International University Small Business Development Center (TAMIU-SBDC) will kick off its Small Business Management Certificate Program Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015.

Starting a new business is an overwhelming challenge. The TAMIU SBDC developed the Small Business Management Certificate Program to help meet the needs of aspiring small business owners. The program helps participants build essential business skills and knowledge to run a successful business. 

The Certification Program includes nine workshops and a consultation with a Certified Business Advisor to guide the start-up or expansion process of a potential or existing business.

Topics include: the Art of Starting a Business; Anatomy of a Business Plan; Managing Cash; ABC’s of Government Contracting; Keeping the Books; QuickBooks, Understanding your Credit; Internet Marketing and Legal Issues for Micro-Entrepreneurs.        

Completion of the program enhances management skills and provides a good foundation for success.  It is valued at $500, but those enrolling now pay only the enrollment fee. 

At Program’s end, participants earn a total of 26 hours or 2.6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), a plaque, and, are eligible to enroll in the Annual Business Strategies for Entrepreneurs Certificate Program held in  July.

Requirements for completing the Program include:  A one-time enrollment fee of $50, attending the required nine courses, completion of two online courses, attending a Goal Planning Session and an advising session with an SBDC-Certified Business Advisor.
