The Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra, better known as the Laredo Phil, will launch its 35th Anniversary Season by celebrating the "Sounds of our Heritage" in concert Sunday October 4 at 3 p.m. at the Texas A&M International University Center for the Fine & Performing Arts Recital Hall.

"Sounds of our Heritage" is a season inspired primarily by the various countries whose flags have flown over the City of Laredo. While focusing primarily on music of the United States, each of the other flags will be represented in one or more of the season’s concerts.

A major initiative being undertaken by the Laredo Phil this season is to build stronger ties with the community, both through its music-making and by presenting a free concert at Blas Castañeda Park in collaboration with the City of Laredo Parks & Recreation Dept.

"Symphony in the Park" is the first of its kind here in the Gateway City, and the public is invited to bring lawn chairs and coolers and enjoy an evening of patriotic music as the Orchestra honors the City's veterans.

To further demonstrate its commitment to reaching new audiences, the Laredo Phil is partnering with Texas A&M International University’s Artists in Residence, the world-renowned Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán de Guadalajara, in a concert at the Laredo Energy Arena April 30, 2016 to celebrate the music of México.

For ticket and more information, contact the Laredo Phil by calling (956) 326-3042, email laredophilharmonic@gmail.com, or visit www.laredophil.com.
