International Education Week Draws to Close

International Week at TAMIU

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) is celebrating cultural diversity and awareness on its campus with fun, colorful decorations and intellectually enriching activities during International Education Week Monday, Nov. 16 – Friday, Nov. 20.

Among the week’s highlights will be a Diwali Celebration, one of the largest and brightest festivals observed in India every year, signifying the triumph of light over darkness.

Triana González, TAMIU associate director of International Engagement, said International Education Week is a nationwide celebration designated by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to promote international education, culture and diversity in the United States.

International Education Week also serves to encourage University students to learn more about Study Abroad opportunities and become more knowledgeable as well as sensitive about other cultures and various traditions observed throughout the world, González explained. This semester, students from over 60 countries are enrolled at TAMIU.
