Chef Pati Jinich Event Sells Out at TAMIU

Pati Jinich is the star of PBS's popular "Pati's Mexican Table."  

Tickets have sold out for the KLRN Chef Series, Dinner with Pati, featuring the host  of the popular public television series Pati’s Mexican Table, Pati Jinich, Wednesday,  September 28, 2016 at Texas A&M International University’s Student Center Ballroom. 

The event is part of the University’s month-long “Voces: Hispanic Heritage Month” observation. 

“We are excited to introduce Chef Pati Jinich to our Laredo community during KLRN’s Chef Series,” said Arthur Emerson, KLRN President and CEO, “KLRN’s Saturday cooking line-up is very popular due to chefs such as Pati. Her captivating personality and knowledge of Mexican cuisine makes Chef Pati one of KLRN’s most watched programs.” 

Dinner will include a multi-course meal featuring recipes from her cookbook, Mexican Today, a presentation by Chef Pati, and an autographed copy of the cookbook.  

The event is historic as the first KLRN Chef Series event taking place in Laredo. Proceeds benefit KLRN Public Television. 

TAMIU and KLRN are long-time collaborators and have partnered in the creation of the TAMIU-KLRN Studio, a digital learning laboratory on campus that has dramaticallyt expanded learning opportunities in the University’s Communication program. 

Jinich is host of the KLRN series Pati's Mexican Table, which premiered nationwide in 2011.  It is double Emmy and double James Beard Award nominated. She is also the author of Pati's Mexican Table: The Secrets of Real Mexican Home Cooking (2013) and the just-published Mexican Today: New and Rediscovered Recipes for Contemporary Kitchens.  

She is a cooking teacher, food writer and official Chef of the Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, DC.  She was born in Mexico City, and comes from a family of accomplished cooks.  Since the launch of Pati's Mexican Table in 2011, Jinich has been able to share her talent with a far broader audience.
