TAMIU Presents Fall Dance Concert 2016 Friday-Saturday, Nov. 18-19

 

Fall Dance Concert
 

Ballet, modern, flamenco and folklórico dance performances will be part of Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) Fall Dance Concert 2016 Friday, Nov. 18 and Saturday, Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Theatre.

The event will feature choreographic works of TAMIU dance faculty Jee Eun Ahn, adjunct faculty of Dance; Kerry Kim, visiting assistant professor of Dance; Ericka García Haynes, adjunct faculty of Dance and Dr. Gabriela Mendoza-García, visiting assistant professor of Dance. In addition, the event will feature student works.

Entrance is $5 minimum scholarship donation per person. Proceeds will benefit student scholarships. TAMIU students enter free with an ID. Children 12 years and younger are admitted free.

“Featured dance titles in the program include ‘Viva Jalisco!,’ ‘But when…,’ ‘Sanity, ’ ‘Unstoppable Women,’ ‘Manipulator,’ ‘In Order to Live,’ and ‘Eres Mi Camino,’ among others,” said Dr. Mendoza-García, “in addition to work by faculty, the concert will feature works by student choreographers.”

She said that the Saturday concert also serves to announce the scholarship winner of the Valeria Hernández Memorial Scholarship. The Scholarship is granted to gifted students who have demonstrated a commitment to the dance program and advancement in the field of dance.
