Tree Lighting at TAMIU

Unwrap the holiday season spirit at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) and enjoy music, pictures with Santa, arts and crafts for kids at the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony Thursday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. in the Student Center Rotunda.

The event is free and open to the public.

“This will serve as an event to kick off the holiday season at TAMIU,” said Teresa Renn, associate director of Student Orientation, Leadership and Engagement, “It is an opportunity for the community to visit TAMIU and experience everything that we have to offer.”

Renn said that over 100 students in the Campus Activities Board organize the Tree Lighting Ceremony, one of many TAMIU campus traditions.

“This is a student run initiative,” said Renn, “We encourage the community to visit us and enjoy everything that the students have organized.”

Renn said organizations and groups participating in this event also include the TAMIU Guitar Ensemble, TAMIU Dance Club and voice students.

This year, children can also enjoy making snow angels and mini snowmen at a play area with real snow.
