TAMIU PR Office Sweeps Competitions, Earning 13 Awards

The University's 2016 Annual Report was a multiple award winner.  

In state, national and international competitions, the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Office of Public Relations, Marketing and Information Services (PRMIS) has earned 13 professional awards.

The multiple awards from three competitions span a broad range of categories from public relations campaigns and print ads to web design, video and specialized publications.

From the 2017 AVA Digital Awards, TAMIU earned a platinum, two golds and two honorable mentions for video entries.

AVA Digital Awards is an international competition that recognizes excellence by creative professionals responsible for the planning, concept, direction, design and production of digital communication.

From the 32nd Annual Educational Advertising Awards (EAA’s), TAMIU earned a gold for total public relations campaign; a gold for its 2016 Annual Report; a silver for newspaper advertising series; a bronze for outdoor panels and three merit awards for international publication, letterhead and logo design, and its website.

The EAA’s are sponsored by Higher Education Marketing Report and recognize higher education marketing programs and materials displaying exceptional quality, creativity and message effectiveness.

From the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), San Antonio Chapter, TAMIU received the El Bronce Excellence Tactics Award for its 2016 Annual Report.  The

El Bronce Awards recognize outstanding public relations tactics and celebrate the best in tactics through categories reflecting their growing scope, creativity and importance in strategic public relations.

Since 2013, the PRMIS Office has received 62 professional awards in state, national and international competitions. The University’s “Go Beyond” Campaign was recently showcased in the national publication, Higher Ed Marketing, which highlighted its international reach in marketing.

TAMIU’s PRMIS director Steve Harmon said the multiple Awards are a testament to the team’s collaboration, creativity, drive, and passion.

They inspire with daily creativity, drive and passion.  All are incredibly energetic, bright and dedicated professionals who share our mission and story across multiple platforms in innovative and engaging ways,” Harmon said.

The PRMIS team includes Mika Akikuni, associate director of marketing; Laura Bogue, administrative associate; Ana P. Clamont, design and brand manager; Rory King, director of web; Kacy Mathews, designer; Ana M. Vargas, associate director of web and Melissa Barrientos-Whitfield, social media and communications manager.
