TAMIU Hosts Annual Wicked Wellness Week

Real life may be frightening at times, but most threats can be diminished with knowledge. That’s why the Texas &M International University (TAMIU) Student Health Services, in collaboration with TAMIU SCAN Prevention Project, host “Wicked Wellness Week 2017” Friday, Oct. 20 – Tuesday, Oct. 31 at TAMIU.

“Wicked Wellness Week” is an initiative aimed at raising awareness and increasing knowledge of wellness topics including preventative, behavioral and mental health.

Admission is free and open to the public.

The events kick off with student research presentations Friday, Oct. 20 from noon – 3 p.m. in the Student Center (SC), second floor rotunda.

The rest of the schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, Oct. 23: “Drug Enforcement Administration Pill Takeback,” 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., SC first floor rotunda.
    South Texas Blood Bank annual blood drive, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., SC parking lot.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 24: “Health and Wellness Symposium,” 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., SC ballroom.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 25: Health information fair, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., SC first floor rotunda.
    “Selena Tribute Runway Show,” noon – 1 p.m., SC first floor rotunda.
  • Thursday, Oct. 26: Free flu vaccine for students, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., SC first floor.
    “Chasing the Dragon” documentary presented by the Drug Enforcement Administration, 12:30 p.m. – 2 p.m., SC 236.
    "Annual Halloween Festival,” 6 – 9 p.m., Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center (ZSC) lawn.
  • Friday, Oct. 27: “Yoga for Stress Relief,” 12:30 – 1:30 p.m., Rec Sports.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 31: “TLC: Nightmare on University Boulevard,” noon – 1 p.m., ZSC 101.
