A murder mystery is on the menu at the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) Music on the Menu Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 12:10 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Recital Hall. “The Haunted Castle” (1921), directed by F.W. Murnau, will get a live improvisation treatment on the Sharkey Corrigan Organ from University Organist Dr. Colin Campbell.

Admission is free and open to the public.

German director Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau (1888-1931) collaborated with some of the most gifted figures in German cinema during the Weimar era for the silent film, “The Haunted Castle.” His other films include “Nosferatu” (1922) and “Sunrise” (1927).

“The Haunted Castle” follows Count Johann Oetsch as he tries to clear his name after he’s been accused of murdering his brother.

Dr. Campbell’s improvisation replicates the experience of watching silent movies with organ accompaniment.
