This week, Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) will host Student Hearings to discuss proposed changes to the University’s Tuition and Fees for 2018-19.

The Hearings are scheduled Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the Student Center Rotunda, and again Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 12:30 p.m. in the Student Center Rotunda, second floor.

Under The Texas A&M University System’s Policy, with the approval of the Chancellor, presidents are authorized to hold a public hearing regarding any proposed change in designated tuition. The hearings are coordinated by the Student Fee Advisory Committee composed, as required by Education Code, by four University employees and five TAMIU students.

This week’s hearings will be presided over by Gabriel Martínez, TAMIU Student Government Association President and Student Fee Advisory Committee member, and Juan J. Castillo, TAMIU Chief Financial Officer.

TAMIU is proposing an increase of 3.7% on tuition and fees equal to the increase in the Higher Education Price Index (HEPI) adjustment, and an increase in the Health Fee by $4.60 per semester.

After the hearings, proposed increases will be submitted to The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents for consideration.  If approved, the increases will take effect Fall 2018.
