Five students each received a cash bonus this fall semester after they were selected as winners in the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) “Avoid the line, pay online!” promotion to encourage students to pay their tuition and fees online.

Cuitlahuac Misael Najera—MBA with a concentration in international business administration graduate student—won $2,000 and Cassandra Nichole Arzuaga—MBA with a concentration in international trade and logistics graduate student, Johanna Elizabeth Webb—junior pre-engineering major, Jackie Lizette Guerra—senior psychology major and José Arian Villarreal—junior business administration major, each won $500.

“We came up with the promotion in order to educate students on the online payment tool offered by the University,” explained Carlos Bella Jr., TAMIU Assistant Comptroller.

Students can pay online at tamiu.edu/pay

“It’s a convenient service because students don’t have to wait in line or come to campus. They’re not limited to paying during office hours and can pay whatever time they want,” Bella added.

Each student who paid online was automatically entered in the drawing. This included students who paid through the installment plan or with an emergency loan.

“Students can also add authorized users so parents or anyone else can access the student’s account and pay the bill. Authorized users will also have the ability to schedule payments and reduce the risk for incurring late fees. Plus it’s mobile friendly,” said Bella.

The University plans to run the promotion again for Spring 2018.

Registration for Spring 2018 is underway.
