TAMIU Expands Engineering Options for Spring 2018

Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) School of Engineering is expanding engineering options this Spring 2018 with the addition of two new minors.

Dr. Guillermo Domínguez, director of the School of Engineering, said the two minors are part of the School’s BS in Systems Engineering.

“We’ll be offering three courses for our new minor in Petroleum Engineering and three new courses for our new minor in Computer Science,” Dr. Domínguez explained.

The Computer Science Minor courses are Object Oriented Programming, Operating Systems & Network and Databases.  The Petroleum Engineering Minor courses are Drilling I, Reservoir Petrophysics and Integrated Reservoir Management.

Registration for Spring 2018 starts Monday, Nov. 6.

This September, the School of Engineering was notified that it has joined the ranks of other elite engineering school programs across the country and world that have earned prestigious ABET Accreditation.

ABET Accreditation is considered an affirmation of the program’s quality and its potential for growth and advancement.

ABET is a non-profit, non-governmental organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.  It accredits college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology at various degree levels.  It currently accredits 3,709 programs at 752 colleges and universities in 30 countries.
