This week, Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Theatre hosts the remaining performances of Laredo Theater Guild International’s presentation of Tennessee Williams’ “The Glass Menagerie.”

This A Class on Stage Series Production is offered by LTGI in cooperation with TAMIU and sponsored by the D.D. Hachar Charitable Trust Fund and International Bank of Commerce.

The Glass Menagerie premiered in 1944. The Laredo production opened Sept. 20. Special morning performances have been held for local students.

The remaining shows are Sept. 27-30.  Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. while Sunday's closing matinee is at 3 p.m.

“The Glass Menagerie” is directed by Vernon Carroll and produced by Karen Mejia.

“The Glass Menagerie” is introduced as a memory play. It is set in St. Louis in 1937 and drawn from the memories of narrator Tom Wingfield. Tom is an aspiring poet, but works in a shoe warehouse to support his mother, Amanda, and fragile sister, Laura. Throughout the play, Amanda is obsessed with finding a suitor for Laura, and Tom gets caught up in his mother’s desperate schemes to find his cripplingly shy sister a husband.

Tickets are available at Blue Top Reprographics and online. General Admission tickets are $10. Students are free with ID. Advance tickets are sold locally and online before the event. Remaining tickets are sold at the Box Office 1 hour before each show time. Doors open 30 minutes before show time. All tickets are open seating. In the event of a sold out show, available seats will be released 10 minutes prior to curtain.
