Scheduling courses often creates frustration and headaches for University students.  This Spring 2019 at Texas A&M International University, students can use a powerful  tool to help them schedule courses their way…with no more headaches.

TAMIU students can use TAMIU SchEDUler to build their schedules, accommodating outside obligations and preferred learning times, on their desktop, smartphone or tablet.

University Registrar Juan Gilberto García, Jr. said TAMIU SchEDUler makes scheduling seamless, reduces registration frustrations and accommodates student  preferences, all within a mobile-friendly interface.

“This enables students  to take control of their schedule from their smartphone or tablet.  Our research shows that when schedules are optimized for a student this boosts credit hours, increases student retention, and accelerates degree completion --  all critical to our students and our University.  When a student is able to build a schedule that works for them, this flexibility helps them to balance learning and life, and build their success,” Garcia said.

Students login to the TAMIU SchEDUler and quickly establish best class times for them. They select courses and faculty, and then review and compare all schedule variations.  They can lock times and courses, save their schedule, and share with their advisor.

For the University, TAMIU SchEDUler can help forecast course demand and fill rates, and help advisors to electronically build and review students’ desired schedules.

The University has  created an informative video and usage guide. Walk up, hands-on opportunities are available at the Registrar’s Office in the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center. Login and additional information is available through the University’s portal, Uconnect.

To develop TAMIU SchEDUler, the University collaborated with Civitas Learning, a student success company that has partnered strategically with more than 325 colleges and universities like TAMIU, serving nearly 8 million students.
