Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) has been ranked 16th in the 2019 U.S. News and World Report’s Best Collegesreport’s Top Public Schools Regional Universities West, and recognized as a Best Value School, Regional Universities West.

TAMIU was the highest-ranked Texas public university in the Best Regional Universities West  category at 59 of 127 West universities surveyed among 656 universities nationally.  Last year, TAMIU ranked 70.

TAMIU’s Online MBA was also one of the Best Online Master’s Degrees in Business, ranking 82 out 284 reviewed.

TAMIU president Dr. Pablo Arenaz said rankings and ratings can be an important part  in any student’s or family’s research into university selection.

“We’re very pleased to figure strongly in this and other rankings and ratings. These are often the first research steps as students and their families consider higher education destinations.  Potential students should review rankings and ratings, but always supplement that by visiting campuses like TAMIU or others. It’s a great way to  meet with faculty and students, and find out what support systems are in place,” Dr. Arenaz said.

Other A&M System campus ranked in the Best Regional Universities West Category included West Texas A&M University at 81, Tarleton State University at 91 and Texas A&M University Texarkana, 96.

The U.S. News and World Report  continues to note that public schools like TAMIU offer discounted tuition to State residents and provide experiences ranging from the liberal arts to research capabilities. The ranking notes TAMIU’s student faculty ratio as 22:1; 60.3% female student population, available financial aid and  campus safety, among other indicators.

The U.S. News ranking system is based on 16 academic measures. These include  graduation and retention rates, assessment of excellence, expert opinion, faculty resources, student selectivity, social mobility, financial resources, graduation rate performance, and others.

Arenaz said that while all these factors help contribute to a rich mosaic at TAMIU, it is the students and faculty that seek and encourage personal and institutional excellence.

“At TAMIU, we have truly amazing, committed students. They are led by a gifted, global  faculty. Together, they focus students’ journeys on accomplishment and excellence,” he concluded.

Last week, a national rating that focuses on universities exceling at retaining and graduating students said TAMIU was the highest-rated Texas Public Masters University and in the national top 25%  for its category, according to the2018 Eduventures® Research Student Success Ratings Report.

That Report’s authors analyzed some 1,100 institutions in order to better help colleges, universities, students and their families identify institutions like TAMIU that excel at retaining and graduating students.

An opportunity for students of all ages to explore TAMIU will be available in April when the University hosts its annual “Discover TAMIU” event. This day-long Open House offers students, their families, and community members the opportunity to experience the University on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
