TAMIU Hosts School Districts Career Fair April 16

School Districts Fair

Aspiring teachers and individuals interested in pursuing a career in education are invited to attend the Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) School Districts Career Fair Tuesday, April 16 from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center.

Students, alumni and the general public are encouraged to attend.

The Fair will feature 20 different school districts from across Texas. Employers will relay information regarding current hiring needs, qualifications for job openings, required certifications needed and any job-related questions.

Both part- and full-time positions are being sought, ranging from teachers, administrators and school paraprofessionals.

Attendees are highly recommended to bring copies of their resume and should dress in business casual attire as job recruiters will be conducting on-site interviews. Individuals in need of business casual attire can visit TAMIU’s Office of Career Services Career Closet for assistance.

“The Office of Career Services provides employment opportunities for our current students and alumni,” noted Cassandra Wheeler, TAMIU director of Career Services. She emphasized, “Academic preparation, along with providing students with mock panel interviews and resume reviews through the Office of Career Services results in our graduates being employed in 153 Texas school districts. This event is just one of many ways we ‘Go Beyond’ by preparing our students, and meeting the needs of the local community and the State of Texas.”

The University’s Office of Career Services offers a broad range of services, that includes creating resumes and cover letters, practicing interviewing skills and access to Dusty Works. Services are available to students, parents, alumni, job recruiters, and University faculty and staff members.

For more information, contact the Office of Career Services at 956.326.4473, email careerservices@tamiu.edu or visit offices in the Student Center, room 114.
