El Metro Bus Passes for TAMIU Students on Sale




This Fall, Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) students can get on the bus with a special bus pass for El Metro Bus Services.

The TAMIU El Metro  Student Bus Pass provides unlimited bus services starting August 24 through December 10, 2019.

TAMIU Fall 2019 classes begin Tuesday. Aug. 27.

The TAMIU El Metro  Bus Pass is now available for purchase by visiting the TAMIU Bursar’s or Registrar’s offices for the $250 payment, with the pass available from El Metro offices, located at 1301 Farragut, downtown.  For additional student convenience, El Metro representatives will be at TAMIU Wednesday, Aug. 28 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

The Student Bus Pass Fee reflects a 20% discount on typical fixed bus fare expenses for a student riding the bus four times a day.

Enrolled TAMIU students can also charge the fee to their TAMIU account if they have sufficient financial aid. They will also need to purchase a  $2.00 ID cash fee should they want to take their picture that day.

Originating at the El Metro Transit Center downtown, TAMIU El Metro Route 16 runs north on IH 35, west along Del Mar and then south on Loop 20 to TAMIU.  It continues down Loop 20 to Jacaman Road and Casa Verde Road before reentering the Loop and heading northward to return east on Del Mar.  For bus pass questions, contact El Metro’s Customer Service Department at 956.795.2280.

Routes run Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 7:25 p.m. and Sundays and holidays from 12 noon to 7 p.m. For service or bus pass questions, please contact El Metro representatives or visit

El Metro has also integrated Google Transit into its bus system operations to enhance bus arrival predictability at the 1200 bus stops throughout the City. Google Transit is a feature of Google Maps that allows people to plan a trip using public transportation. The El Metro App is available for download.
