TAMIU’s Maroon Madness Launches Basketball Season Wednesday
On Wednesday, October 23, 2019 Maroon Madness, the annual unofficial kickoff of Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) Dustdevil Basketball season, will roll at TAMIU.
The fun event is free and open to the public. Pre-Madness festivities start at 6 p.m. on the lawn surrounding the Kinesiology and Convocation Building (KCB). Pre-Madness will feature free food, provided by Aramark and Taco Palenque, a DJ and games before things move inside the KCB at 8:15 p.m.
Maroon Madness will be hosted by Sammy The House and includes team introductions, a dunk showcase, a skills competition and a performance by TAMIU cheer and dance teams, among other things. The first 1,200 students will receive an official 2019 Maroon Madness T-shirt, courtesy of TAMIU Housing & Residence Life. The shirt’s design commemorates the University’s 50th Anniversary.
All fans in attendance will also have a chance to win Beats headphones, a gaming console, a flat screen TV, gift cards and more. There will also be an opportunity for one lucky student to make a half-court shot to win free tuition for the Spring 2020 semester.
At the end of the event, attendees will have the opportunity to pick up free food for the ride home courtesy of Popeyes.
