A new scholarship opportunity has been announced by the Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 296 of Texas A&M International University.

Dubbed the “Love of Learning”  Scholarship, it represents a long-cherished Chapter goal, said Chapter president Dr. Lola Norris.

“This has been a cherished goal of our Chapter for some time and we’re happy to be able to offer members a Scholarship that delivers on that goal,” Dr. Norris said.

Chapter president-elect Dr. Tariq Tashtoush noted the Scholarship’s name reflects Phi Kappa Phi’s mission.

“This  new Scholarship  recognizes the love of learning and promotes academic excellence in  all fields of higher education -- while also engaging  our community of scholars in service to others,” Dr. Tashtoush said.

Two scholarships will be available and are valued at $500 each.

Criteria for selection include that the  applicant must be an active member in Phi Kappa Phi; a full-time undergraduate or graduate student;  provide a one-page resume and a personal statement of 300-500 words.  Applications are available here. Deadline for applications to be submitted is Saturday, May 15, 2021

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest, largest, and most selective all-discipline honor society.

Phi Kappa Phi annually inducts approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff, and alumni. In March, the TAMIU Chapter inducted 70 new members in a virtual ceremony.

Once inducted, Phi Kappa Phi members gain a lifelong passport to a global network of academic and professional opportunities.

TAMIU’s Chapter 296 was first installed in 2005.
