While a picture may be worth a thousand words, the opportunity to walk about and experience that picture in real-time is worth much, much more.

That’s why Texas A&M International University’s (TAMIU) has reopened its on-campus tour appointments for potential students as part of its cautious and planned move to a full on-campus TAMIU experience this Fall.

“We’ve all become adept at virtual approaches to much of life this past year, but now feel that we can begin to offer carefully planned and delivered tours of our beautiful campus for potential students and their families,” said Jessica Treviño, director, TAMIU Office of Recruitment and School Relations.

“All tours will be pre-scheduled to maintain spacing protocols and conducted with all participants masked and distanced.  Our student tour guides will conduct tours for groups limited in size to three.  We offer two types of tours: a 45-minute guided tour and a 20-minute guided tour. The extended tour can also be customized to include individual areas of interest, such as planned areas of study. Tours are available Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.,” Treviño added.

She said the University is excited to welcome tour participants back to campus.

“We’re excited to once again share our beautiful 300-acre campus through student tours. As our president, Dr. Pablo Arenaz, has said,  we have followed the  science, and our strict adherence to safety protocols, aggressive testing and vaccination programs at TAMIU has kept our prevalence among the lowest in The Texas A&M University System, throughout the Pandemic response. We continue to offer on-campus rapid testing and vaccination opportunities, and require on-campus face coverings, social distancing and rigorous hand-washing, Treviño explained.

She said her office has also designed a special Campus Tour Welcome Package for student visitors that includes information, a special visitor pin and an assortment of University-branded goodies, including an official TAMIU Face Mask.

“Our Welcome package is just another way of us sharing our campus experience and helping students to feel right at home here.  We believe that once they join us for a campus tour, they’ll see that their journey to becoming a TAMIU Dustdevil begins right beneath their feet,” she concluded.

The University is also planning a special Future Dustdevil Car Parade on campus Thursday, May 6  from 6 – 8 p.m. It is a drive-thru opportunity for new or transferring students to visit the campus and preview Fall plans.  It will include giveaways and food offered curbside.
