The Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library is the “brain” of Texas A&M International University and home to vast resources and tools that assist students, faculty, and all members of the University community.

This Fall, the Killam Library will launch three component tools designed to enhance Killam Library users search and access experiences. All are powered by Ex Libris, which provides cloud-based solutions to help academic institutions create, manage and share knowledge, achieve goals, and further academic initiatives.

Among those components, Killam librarians and staff will use “Alma” to help make Library physical and electronic holdings accessible and improve workflows. It also provides an array of analytics focused on usage and inventory.

“Primo” is a user interface (catalog) to allow more robust searching and discovery of scholarly materials, with integrated, powerful tools to help keep track of and share content. While the search box on the Library’s homepage will remain the same, the search experience will be dramatically enhanced.

Finally, Killam library users will find the third tool, “Rapido,” a full-service interlibrary loan component accessing materials around the world and providing a seamless, powerful search experience for users.

The Killam Library also welcomes two new librarians: Dr. Chao Chen, Online Learning Librarian, and Dr. Mayra Bonet, Research & Assessment Librarian.

Both are part of the Killam Library’s newly-formed Research & Assessment Department  dedicated to library instruction, information literacy, collaborating with faculty to help build collections, and  providing a more directed focus for assessment informing decision-making.

The Killam Library is home to 1.2 million items, 240+ databases, over 800,000 eBooks and 89,000+ eJournals.
