Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) College of Nursing and Health Sciences' Online RN to BSN Program now ranks second among the Best Online RN to BSN Programs in Texas, according to online source, Registered Nursing.

The College of Nursing and Health Sciences' ranking moved up two spots this year. In 2020, Registered Nursing the College fourth.

2023's full ranking for TAMIU can be found here: https://www.registerednursing.org/rn-to-bsn/texas/#show

According to Registered Nursing, nursing programs were assessed on several factors which represent how well a program supports students during school, towards licensure and beyond. The full ranking methodology is described here: https://www.registerednursing.org/rankings-methodology/

TAMIU Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences and Dr. F. M. Canseco School of Nursing said she attributed the ranking to program quality and faculty excellence in teaching.

“We are very proud of the programs we offer at the Dr. F.M. Canseco School of Nursing. I attribute the quality of our programs to the dedication and passion of our faculty for excellence in teaching. Although the RN-BSN and graduate nursing programs are delivered online, our students get frequent synchronized one-to-one interactions and engagement of our faculty with them. Our students feel connected to TAMIU and experience the “campus experience” even though they are learning remotely,” Dr. Torregosa explained.

TAMIU's RN to BSN program provides an accelerated and affordable pathway to various professional nursing roles. Its coursework is delivered in a 100% online format, with working nurses' schedules in mind. The program can be completed in as little as one year.

In the program, students learn about the role of a nurse leader in professional nursing practice, with a focus on critical thinking, effective communication, ethical and legal issues, conflict resolution, improving quality and safety, and leading change. Students also learn to conduct comprehensive health assessments through all phases of the patient life span.

The undergraduate and graduate programs in the Dr. F. M. Canseco School of Nursing in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences are accredited by the Texas Board of Nursing and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.

The College boasts a 90% through 100% National Certification Exam pass rate for FNP first-time test-takers for the past four years. Student to professor ratio is 6:1 for clinicals, and all FNP nursing graduates are offered jobs by graduation.

The College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers other nursing programs such as traditional BSN program, Masters in Nursing Administration (online), and the new MSN Online Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Program.
