Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) welcomed approximately 80+ youth athletes and coaches this week during an International Team Welcome Event celebrating participants in the 2026 PONY Bronco and Palomino World Series.

The visiting delegations represented Taiwan, France, Belgium and Laredo. The event brought together 12-year-old Bronco, and 18-year-old Palomino World Series athletes, coaches, tournament organizers and community leaders in celebration of friendship, sportsmanship and international understanding.

TAMIU President Dr. Christopher Maynard welcomed the participants to the University. The event included a group photo, a visit to the TAMIU Planetarium, a University presentation introducing participants to TAMIU, and a briefing by TAMIU Baseball athletes on heat management in sports.

The event highlighted TAMIU's role as the international university of The Texas A&M University System and showcased the University's commitment to global engagement, educational opportunity and community partnerships. Through the universal language of baseball, athletes from diverse cultures had the opportunity to connect, learn from one another and experience the hospitality of Laredo and South Texas.

The 2026 PONY Bronco and Palomino World Series brought qualifying baseball teams from around the world to Laredo for competition scheduled July 31 through Aug. 1.

The International Team Welcome Event was held in conjunction with the 2026 PONY Bronco and Palomino World Series.
