Texas A&M International University will host a series of Open Forums for candidates for TAMIU’s next Vice President for Institutional Advancement. Open Forums are happening April 14 - 16 in the Senator Judith Zaffirini Student Success Center, room 101. Open Forums are open to members of the University community, including alumni.

Javier “Jay” L. Zambrano

Javier “Jay” L. Zambrano currently serves as the vice president for Advancement and University Relations at the University of Houston – Downtown where he oversees all aspects of fundraising, marketing and communication strategies, while establishing ambitious fundraising goals and expectations.

Previously, he has served as vice president for development at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, the executive director of the Adelante U.S.  Education Leadership Fund, director of Development at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Foster School of Medicine and executive director of Development at Texas at Texas A&M University – Kingsville. He has held numerous roles at the University of Texas at San Antonio, the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities and Texas A&M International University.

Zambrano holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing with an International Certification from Texas A&M University – Kingsville.

Cristian A. Murdock

Cristian A. Murdock currently serves as the principal and founder of MAC Advancement. He has designed and executed a $1B youth campaign, where he developed client-specific social media strategies, direct mail programs and donor cultivation, while also leading feasibility studies, campaign readiness assessments, board development and strategic planning.

Previously, he has served as the chief development officer at the Salvation Army DFW, vice president of Advancement and University Relations at St. John’s University, consultant at Gonser Gerber, vice chancellor for University Advancement at Arkansas State University and executive director of National Major Giving and Corporate/Foundation Relations at Southern Methodist University.

Murdock holds a Master of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science from Oklahoma State University.

Amy Armstrong

Amy Armstrong has served as the associate vice president of Alumni Engagement at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and CEO at the UL Alumni Association. She has worked to provide long-range strategic vision, including spearheading relationship-building initiatives while also developing and implementing strategic goals that fostered strong, mutually beneficial relationships with alumni.

Previously, she has held numerous positions, most recently as the associate vice president of Baylor Alumni at Baylor University and executive director of Philanthropic Operations at the Baylor College of Medicine. She has also served as assistant vice president of Alumni Relations and Development at Trinity University, as well as in leadership positions in the Division of Advancement at the University of North Texas.  She has held numerous roles at Texas Tech University System, the Covenant Health System and American State Bank, and others.

Armstrong holds a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management at the University of North Texas and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Texas Tech University.
