Hispanic and Latino Mental Health: Research and Practice.
Three semester hours.
Reviews the growing body of literature on Hispanic and Latino mental health within counseling. Reports incidence of mental health problems within Mexican Americans and highlights theories of prevention, advocacy and intervention. Discusses strengths within Mexican American and other Latino communities to enhance mental health and personal development. Introduces strategies to facilitate, create and research culturally sensitive and bilingual counseling services. Prerequisite: Graduate standing.
