Principles of Generalist Social Work Practice: Knowledge, Values, and Skills
Three semester hours.
This course is an introduction to generalist social work practice for the beginning practitioner. Emphasis is on the necessary knowledge, skills, values, and abilities required of the social work professional, and on the use of self when working with clients. Self assessment and increased self awareness are major foci of the course. Includes forty-five clock hours of contextual learning in a social service-connected agency. Prerequisites: SOCW 2361, SOCW 3303, SOCW 3304, SOCW 3305, SOCW 3306 and admission to major.
