OVERVIEW

The University:  UNB traces its origins back to 1785 and is one of the oldest public universities in North America.  UNB consists of two main campuses, one in the city of Fredericton and the other in the city of St. John.  Combined student population is more than 11,400 with the fast majority being at the Fredericton campus.  UNB has 14 faculties, of which Fredericton hosts arts, business administration, computer science, education, engineering, forestry and environmental management, kinesiology, law, nursing, Renaissance College and science programs.  Saint John hosts arts, business, and science, applied science and engineering programs.

Location: The city of Fredericton is the capital of New Brunswick and one of Eastern Canada's most picturesque locations situation on the beautiful Saint John river.  It has a regional population of 125,000 people.  The campus is located within walking distance of the vibrant downtown center which boasts Canada's first wireless zone.

ACADEMIC PROGRAM

Students may participate in this program for summer, semester or an academic year.  For either of these sessions, students select from courses offered through UNBs academic departments grouped under the different faculties. With English as the main language of instruction, UNB is extremely attractive to TAMIU students from all different academic backgrounds.  Click HERE for course work that previously has been approved by TAMIU.

HOUSING

Living in residence is part of te student's total academic experience.  There are fifteen residence houses at UNB, three men's, two women's, eight co-ed, one apartment style and one suite style.  The rooms are furnished with dieskts, bookshelves, beds, dressers, and wardrobes.  Within each residence, lounges, study rooms, laundry and other facilities are also provided.  Residents, with the exception of those staying at Maggie Jean Chestnut, are required to participate in the residence dining programs.

FINANCIAL AID and SCHOLARSHIPS

TAMIU financial aid may be applied to the costs of studying abroad.  Student interested in receiving financial aid should:

  • Direct financial aid inquiries to the Department of Financial Aid
  • Complete and submit the FAFSA by the appropriate deadline
  • Request a study abroad budget (will be provided one the student has completed his/her full study abroad application)

In addition to financial aid, qualified students may apply for the International Education Fee Scholarship, the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Scholarship, and the Gilman Scholarship

Students who apply to a semester UNB program will automatically receive the one-time Partner Scholarship, in the amount of $ 500.
