Steve has been creating and executing public relations campaigns in the higher education sector for over 15 years. He's well versed in maintaining the TAMIU brand through compelling story-telling, powerful digital and print publications and momentum-building strategic community partnerships. Along with the dedicated PRMIS team, he leads integrated communication and marketing plans that share the University's multi-faceted and increasingly dynamic story with an ever-growing, ever-changing audience.

Mika leads TAMIU's marketing initiatives through data-based strategies and unique partnerships with media, the community, business, government and non-profit organizations. She was previously assistant vice president of marketing at International Bank of Commerce and has held the positions of associate director of public relations and communications specialist at TAMIU. Prior to TAMIU, she was a reporter at the Laredo Morning Times. She holds a master's degree in public administration from TAMIU and a bachelor's in journalism from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. A Japanese-American born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she speaks Japanese, Spanish and basic Portuguese. She looks forward to working in dynamic teams to advance the University's mission.

Originally from Laredo, Melissa joined TAMIU after working five years at a television station in Austin, Texas. She also worked as a freelance reporter covering various departments in city government and politics. An active indoor enthusiast, Melissa enjoys sewing, reading and is starting to enjoy knitting. She looks forward to assisting in promoting the University. Melissa graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Journalism and also with an AA from Laredo Community College.

Ana previously managed the IBC identity program and designed print and electronic media. She holds a BFA in Visual Arts with a specialization in Graphic Design from the University of Nuevo Leon. She also holds an MBA in International Trade from TAMIU and is working on a second MBA in Marketing here. As a student, she interned in the TAMIU Public Affairs office. In addition to being an avid design enthusiast, she is active in the Animal Protective Society and enjoys traveling.

Daniel Tijerina is the newest addition to our Office. Originally from Monterrey, Nuevo León, México, he moved to Laredo and completed high school here. He earned his Bachelor in Fine Arts with a focus in Graphic Design from the Digital Arts College of Boca Raton, Fla. Daniel enjoys many forms of artistic expression, but he says drawing and digital art remain his strongest and favorite hobbies. He says he's glad to be back in Laredo and enjoying the good food and the great outdoors.
