Leadership is a quality that is developed over time and the true test of any leader is their commitment to grow as an individual. The Office of Student Affairs has developed numerous opportunities for you to grow into the person you wish to become.
Freshman LIDER
The Freshman LIDER (Leadership and Involvement for Diversity, Engagement and Retention) program was created in conjunction with the Walmart Growing What Works Semillas Grant, and is designed for first time freshman of TAMIU. The program requires students to attend specified activities and events that will allow them to get acquainted with the University.

Orientation Leaders
Orientation Leaders (OLs) are students that serve as role models to help new students at TAMIU adjust to the rigors of being a college student. OLs are expected to be good communicators, demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, be enthusiastic, be creative, be honest, and be themselves.

Leadership TAMIU
This leadership program is for students in their junior and senior years at TAMIU that are ready to take the next step in developing their leadership skills as they prepare for the future. Leadership TAMIU will give you the opportunity to listen to proven leaders in various fields that will teach you the principles of communication, ethics, teamwork, service learning and engagement, time management, and goal-setting.

Honor Council Student Member
The Honor Council at TAMIU serves to provide faculty and students a means by which they may report academic dishonesty, to provide students with a means of appealing the charges of academic dishonesty, to serve as the initial hearing body for academic cases outside of the classroom, and to provide the Provost with recommendations regarding general academic sanctions or remedial efforts. Members are expected to attend meetings where cases will be heard and keep all information confidential.

Student Conduct Board Member
The Student Conduct Board (SCB) is responsible for reviewing alleged violations of University rules/regulations and Student Code of Conduct. Members are expected to know and understand the Student Code of Conduct and keep all information confidential.

The Office of Student Affairs executes a variety of campus traditions for the students of TAMIU. Each of these traditions carries a mission of helping our students get acquainted with the University campus, provide extracurricular involvement, and assist with leadership and involvement skills.
