Campus Carry Sub-Committee

Pursuant to the passage of Texas Senate Bill 11 (SB11 84R) TAMIU and all Texas A&M University System members implemented reasonable rules to allow for the lawful possession and carry of concealed handguns. This sub-committee was originally the Task Force created to write TAMIU's Rule and make the initial recommendation to the president. One of the recommendations was to create a permanent group to assist the president with the bienial review the rule, as required by the statute, and reviewing on-going requests for additional or temporary exclusion zones.

The sub-committee is appointed by the president upon nomination of Campus Safety and Planning.

Emergency Operations and Management Sub-Committee

In today's world, a solid emergency management plan is a necessity. TAMIU is proud to have one of the most comprehensive emergency plans in the Texas A&M University System. Lead by TAMIU's Environmental Health and Safety group this sub-committee is responsible not only for ensuring the team and plan are operational but, that the university wide continuity of operation plan is updated and easily implemented. TAMIU has adopted the federal National Incident Management System (NIMS) as the primary framework for incident management.

The sub-committee is appointed by the president as outlined by the Emergency Management Plan and nomination of Environmental Health and Safety.
