How It Works

The Dusty Promise Program is designed to cover tuition and mandatory fees by first utilizing federal, state, and institutional aid, like Federal Pell and TEXAS Grants, scholarships and other gift aid. The Dusty Promise Program will cover any remaining tuition and mandatory fees not covered by these programs.

How to Qualify

Students interested in being considered must meet all eligibility requirements and deadlines. Upon meeting these criteria, students are automatically opted into the program; no additional application needs to be submitted.

Determining Your Criteria

First-Time Freshman: A student that has not begun their post-secondary studies at another college or university after graduating from high school or earning a GED.

New Transfer: A student that already started their post-secondary studies at another college or university after graduating from high school or earning a GED.

Must meet Financial Aid SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress)

$100K Family Income or Less

Admitted to TAMIU by: March 15

Enrolled 15 SCH or more ¹ by May 31

These additional scholarship programs recognize our high-achieving students and support student success and timely graduation.

First-Time Freshman Merit Scholarships
- Our freshman scholarships are honorary, four-year, merit-based scholarship awarded to high academic achievers. Students can qualify for one of four TAMIU First-Time Freshman Merit Scholarships.
Transfer Student Merit Scholarships
- Our transfer scholarships are honorary, two-year, merit-based scholarship awarded to high academic achievers. Students can qualify for one of two TAMIU Transfer Merit Scholarships.
