Study Abroad Global Ambassadors
The Study Abroad Global Ambassadors Program (SAGA) strives to internationalize TAMIU by educating and guiding fellow Dustdevils in their international experiences. Composed of former study abroad students, the ambassadors will share their stories and be able to relate to their peers and anticipate situations that might be encountered. The SAGA are outgoing, well-spoken, and culturally sensitive individuals that understand the importance of global discovery through education.
The benefits of being an ambassador and completing the program are many. Building relations, networking, professional and personal enrichment, and internationalizing our university are the most rewarding outcomes. Upon completion, the SAGA will be recognized through:
- Completion of Study Abroad Service Hours
- SAGA Patch
- SAGA Completion Certificate
- Trailblazers – Global Perspective Dimension Completion
Requirements:
- Previous TAMIU study abroad experience
- GPA requirement – 3.0 (at time of application)
- Undergraduate classification
- 2 full semesters pending to graduate
- Time commitment – minimum 5 hours per week
- Program commitment – 1 academic year
- Understand Terms of Confidentiality
Duties:
- Promote study abroad opportunities
- Recruit students for study abroad programs
- Participate in Office of International Experiences (OIE) events and activities
- Guide students in the study abroad process
- Collaborate with International Student Mentor Program (ISMP) and TAMIU cultural organizations
