Mission Statement

The Office of International Experiences is dedicated to creating transformational experiences through study abroad and enriching international education initiatives. The office strives to cultivate success by equipping the TAMIU community with leadership and intercultural competency skills, allowing them to become global citizens.

Announcements:

TAMIU will be closed for the holidays starting December 19 and will reopen on January 5.

Study Abroad

Studying abroad was one of the greatest decision that I have ever decided to take on and move forward with. Many new experiences and adventures were shown to not just myself, but to all of my classmates as well, which at the ended connected all of us and their culture.

Denisse’s essay includes a powerful original poem that contributed to her first-place recognition. We are excited to share that poem below.

Valientes Souls del Mundo 
Llegué con una maleta llena de fe, 
and dreams that whispered, “go your way.” 
Un cielo nuevo, un idioma también, 
pero el corazón dijo: “stay.” 
 
Las calles no sabían mi nombre, 
ni el viento entendía mi voz, 
pero en cada paso encontré 
que no estoy sola, está Dios. 
 
Because studying abroad is brave, 
it’s not escape, it’s grace. 
Es aprender que el miedo no mata, 
solo te enseña a tener fe. 
 
In every flag I see a story, 
en cada acento, un hogar, 
y aunque mi alma extrañe el norte, 
aquí aprendí a volar. 
 
Representation truly matters  
it’s more than just a word to say. 
Cuando alguien se ve en mis pasos, 
también me veo en su fe. 
 
Somos valientes del mundo, 
los que un día dijimos “voy.” 
We left our comfort, found our purpose, 
and built new homes with love and joy. 
 
Aunque lejos de mi familia esté, 
y a veces el alma me duela, 
I’m proud of who I became  
una estudiante, una estrella. 
 
Somos valientes del mundo, 
y aunque a veces duela partir, 
we carry love from every place 
y el valor de seguir.

Friday: 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Saturday & Sunday: Closed
