U.S. Passport


The Office of International Experiences, located in Zaffirini Success Center 206, at TAMIU serves as a passport facility where U.S. citizens can submit a passport first time application form to obtain a new passport. If you will be traveling abroad, you must obtain a U.S. Passport before you depart the U.S.


Passport Information:

First Time Applicant

At the time of your appointment, please bring the following:

For Adult (16 years & older)

  • Completed DS-11 Form (must be filled in with black pen)
  • Evidence of Citizenship - Long Form Birth Certificate or Original Naturalization document (these can't be a copy or a smaller version of document)
  • Driver License and/or State ID (must be valid)
  • Social Security Card
  • Passport-sized Photo (2x2)
  • Money Order or Personal Check payable to 'U.S. Department of State'* (With the exact amount of the passport fee + any added expedited fee + the 1-2 delivery fee if desired)
  • $35 Execution Fee (payment will be made using a debit or credit card & this is not added to the money order or personal check)

Applicants Age 16 & 17: In addition to above, applicant must show at least one legal parent or legal guardian is aware that they are applying for a passport. How to show parental awareness can be seen on #4 here: Applying for a Passport as a 16-17 Year Old (state.gov)

For Minor (under age of 16)

  • Completed DS-11 Form (must be filled in with black pen)
  • Evidence of Citizenship - Long Form Birth Certificate or Original Naturalization document (these can't be a copy or a smaller version of document)
  • Both parents must be present
  • Both parents Driver's License and/or State ID (must be valid)
  • Social Security Card
  • Passport-sized Photo (2x2)
  • Money Order or Personal Check payable to 'U.S. Department of State'* (With the exact amount of the passport fee + any added expedited fee + the 1-2 delivery fee if desired)
  • $35 Execution Fee (payment will be made using a debit or credit card & this is not added to the money order or personal check)

*The passport execution fee is charged to passport applicants applying on Form DS-11 to recover the costs of executing the passport application, such as administering the oath, verifying the applicant's identity, and transmitting the applications. The execution fee must be paid at the time of application execution. The passport application fee and the execution fee are non-refundable. They are collected and retained by law even if a passport is not issued.

*Passport Fee (adult 16 years & older): Book $130, Card $30, Both $160

*Passport Fee (Minor under 16): Book $100, Card: $15, Both $115

Routine processing: 4-6 weeks

Expedited processing: 2-3 weeks (comes with additional $60)

Optional 1-2 day delivery: $22.05 (This service not offered for applicants applying for a passport card only)

Passport Photos

At this time our facility will not be taking passport photos. Please make sure to bring your photo at the time of your appointment.

When preparing to take your passport photos follow the guidelines set by the U.S. Department of State.

Many applicants tend to get their passport photo taken at Walgreens/CVS.


Passport Status

Status updates are generally available 14 days after you apply.
