Due to popular demand, the Texas A&M International University Lamar Bruni Vergara Planetarium will show the very well received “Bella Gaia” Saturday, Nov. 14 and Saturday, Nov. 21 at 5 and
6 p.m.

General admission is $5 and $4 for children and TAMIU students, faculty, staff and alumni.

“ ‘Bella Gaia’ was more popular than we expected and we were able to secure additional showings for all who didn’t get a chance to see it or anyone else who might have missed it. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get Kenji Williams to perform live, but we do have a recording of his performance that we will play along with the show,” announced Gerardo Pérez, director, LBV Planetarium.

Pérez added that the Holiday shows originally scheduled for Nov. 21 have been rescheduled and will now show Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 6 and 7 p.m.

Created by award-winning director and classically trained violinist Williams, “Bella Gaia” (Beautiful Earth) features a 45-minute recorded performance by Williams with a full-dome Planetarium immersion of orbiting visualizations of Earth from space.

Williams describes “Bella Gaia” as a portal for an audience to develop a deeper connection and empathy with our planet Earth. It features scenes of the Earth as seen through the eyes of astronauts that includes images of the fires in the Amazon basin and a time-lapse image of the Arctic ice melt. It also includes exotic Japanese temples, Egyptian pyramids and footage from the Laya project.
