The newest show at the Texas A&M International University Lamar Bruni Vergara Planetarium takes audiences into space to witness the raw power of the cosmos as forces that hold the universe together occasionally try to rip it apart. “Violent Universe: Catastrophes of the Cosmos” makes its Laredo premiere Saturday, Jan. 23 at 5 p.m. with an encore at 6 p.m.

General admission to this premium show is $6 and $5 for children, seniors and TAMIU students, faculty, staff and alumni.

Tickets go on sale one hour before the show starts.

“Violent Universe” highlights the mysterious forces at work in the universe around us—comets, asteroids and meteors hurtling through space, stars collapsing under their own gravity and infernos of nuclear energy releasing their deadly radiation across the universe. Audiences will have a front-row seat and witness worlds collide.

The latest movie produced by Evans & Sutherland, this beautifully crafted show, under the care of Emmy-award winning space artist Don Davis, highlights the mysterious forces at work in the universe around us.

Sci-fi and comic book fans won’t want to miss this show. Sir Patrick Stewart, star of “Star Trek — The Next Generation” and the “X-Men” films, narrates “Violent Universe.”
