See the Earth as seen from space and experience one of the most popular events the Texas A&M International University Lamar Bruni Vergara Planetarium has ever hosted—“Bella Gaia: A Poetic Vision of Earth From Space” during “Green Dependence Day” Saturday, Nov. 6.

This event is free and open to the public. It’s sponsored by Border Media and AEP Texas.

“This year there will be four showings during ‘Green Dependence Day.’ The 4 and 5:30 p.m. showings will be a pre-recorded version of the show. The shows with Williams performing live are scheduled for 6 and 7:30 p.m.,” announced Gerardo Pérez, director, LBV Planetarium.

He added that due to popular demand, a free special presentation of the recorded version of the show will be shown for TAMIU students, faculty and staff Friday, Nov. 5 at noon.

Seating is limited to first-come, first-served.

Created by award-winning director and classically trained violinist Kenji Williams, “Bella Gaia” (Beautiful Earth) features a 45-minute live performance by Williams with a full-dome planetarium immersion of orbiting visualizations of Earth from space.

Pérez said that visitors will also have the opportunity to learn ways to preserve the environment and reduce their carbon footprint during “Green Dependence Day.”

“We will also have several booths from our sponsors, AEP Texas and Border Media, with energy-saving tips and information on recycling,” added Pérez.
