TAMIU will Host International Conference on Risk and Crisis May 22-26

A casual perusal of the news reveals that crises are being responded to everyday.   From earthquakes and tsunamis in Japan, raging fires in west Texas and oil spills in the Gulf of Mexico to global economies and political structures struggling under critical stress, crisis response is part of daily life.

 International researchers, scholars and leading professionals in risk analysis and crisis response will meet in Laredo for the Third International Conference on Risk Analysis and Crisis Response (RACR) May 22-25.

Conference sponsors are TAMIU’s A. R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business, Binational Center, China’s Society for Risk Analysis, the European Society for Risk Analysis, the Japanese Society for Risk Analysis and the Korean Society of Environmental Toxicology.

Over 60 presenters are expected, including representatives from some 15 countries, including Chile, China, Colombia, France, Greece, India, Italy, Mexico, the United States and Turkey.

The Conference will be of special interest to first responders, risk managers and crisis response planners as well as those interested in RACR.  Previous conferences were held in Shanghai and Beijing, China.

Panel discussions scheduled will include: predicting financial risks, evaluating economic risks, crisis management, dynamic risk control, crisis prediction, risk studies and case studies for the U.S. and China.

Keynote speakers for the Conference will include Dr. Chongfu Huang, president of the Society for Risk Analysis in China; Dr. Jinren Ni, deputy dean of the Peking University College of Environmental Sciences and Engineering and Robert Hurst, founder of the consulting firm, Critical Leadership.
