In an effort to increase voter turnout, Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) will host a series of events aimed at promoting voter registration.

A National Voter Registration Day Drive-Thru event Tuesday, Sept. 22 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Student Center parking lot.

The drive-thru is open to the public. Volunteer Deputy Registrars will be on-site to assist individuals in filling out their voter registration form. Drive-thru attendees should remain in their vehicles and use a face covering. Individuals are encouraged to bring their own black pen.

Hosted by TAMIU’s All in Democracy Task Force, the drive-thru counts on the efforts of MOVE Texas at TAMIU and all University student organizations, including the Student Government Association’s Political Action Committee, the Political Science Association and TAMIU College Democrats.

Then, on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 3 p.m., the University in partnership with C-SPAN will host a virtual event titled, “Make Up Your Own Mind” where individuals will learn more about nonpartisan media coverage and how to stay informed throughout the presidential election. Participants can register for the meeting via Trailblazers at https://trailblazers.tamiu.edu/event/6443563

Additional upcoming student-led events include a National Voter Registration Day Couch Party where volunteers will contact potential voters through texts and emails on voter registration, as well as voter registration phone banking events organized through Move Texas and the student Greek Council.

Several virtual, social media-fueled opportunities to increase voter registration are also planned, including a student organization voter registration competition, a featured “Voting Matters” promotional video created by University students and increased promotional efforts on voter registration during the much-loved Campus Activities Board annual Loteria event.
