While the semester’s end usually includes a slew of music recitals and performances by Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) students, the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic prompted a new way of delivering these recitals through a series of livestreamed performances.

This past Fall 2020 semester, eight TAMIU music students participated in livestreamed musical performances via Facebook Live. The recitals included live commentary and were hosted on the University’s Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/TAMIUCFPA.

Performances are currently available for streaming re-watch for the following student recitals:

University faculty members who assisted the students with piano accompaniments included Dr. Colin Campbell, associate professor of Music and Dr. Tatiana Gorbunova, assistant professional. The recitals were recorded and streamed by Joshua Wolfe, theater facilities technician.

The livestreamed performances offer individuals the opportunity to view and enjoy musical performances when typical audience attendance is not possible due to the ongoing Pandemic. The livestreamed performances also allow viewers to interact with one another through livestreamed comments, and to leave the performer a flurry of well-wishes and congratulatory messages.

The livestreamed music performances are one of several ways the University has adapted to ongoing social distancing guidelines. Additional performances that have been livestreamed through social media and streaming platforms include live Q&As, lectures, dance performances, information sessions and more.

Registration for the Spring semester 2021 is now underway. Spring classes begin Monday, Jan. 25, 2021. Late registration continues through Friday, Jan. 29. Financial aid is available.  All University offices and the Sue and Radcliffe Killam Library are open and providing all services. Masks are required and social distancing is practiced on campus.
