TAMIU Joins Dr. Cigarroa, Commissioner Tijerina at Webb Co. LULAC 2021 Orgullo Latino Legacy Award Ceremony

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) will join Laredo physician Dr. Ricardo Cigarroa and Webb County Commissioner Rosaura “Wawi” Tijerina at a virtually streamed awards ceremony recognizing the recipients of the second annual Webb County LULAC annual Orgullo Latino Legacy Award Thursday, April 29, 2021 at 6 p.m.

The Webb County LULAC has named the three individuals and organizations as this year’s Orgullo Latino Legacy Award honorees to recognize their achievements, contributions, and support for the Latino community and their commitment’s impact on the lives of children and families throughout Webb County. 

Webb County LULAC indicated that all three Award recipients represent the strength and dedication that have kept the community united during challenging and extraordinary times.

Receiving the Award on behalf of TAMIU at the Award Ceremony will be TAMIU president Dr. Pablo Arenaz.

In accordance with CDC and local health guidance and recommendations, this year’s Orgullo Latino Legacy Award Ceremony will be hosted at Mile One, with only the Award recipients and key organizers attending. The entire Ceremony will be livestreamed via Zoom.

Virtual access tickets are available for a $25 donation in support of  the 2021 Scholarship Fund.  Organizers hope to award 50 $500 scholarships to Laredo-Webb County high school seniors. 

The official program features live and video testimony from 2020 LULAC scholarship recipients, a presentation of the Orgullo Latino Legacy Awards, and more. Special promotional and sponsorship-level opportunities are available.

The Webb County LULAC hopes to  join the many LULAC councils across the United States to award up to $28,500 worth of scholarships.
